What is it? And what does it taste like? Luxardo Maraschino Cherries
What is it and, What does it taste Like?
Luxardo Maraschino Cherries
The Luxardo brand began in Italy in the early 1800s as a distillery that produced a cherry liqueur made from sour Marasca cherries. In the early 1900s, the distillery started selling cherries candied in Marasca cherry juice and sugar, which in turn, created the original Maraschino cherry.
These cherries are deep and dark in color, swimming in thick syrup, with a nutty taste that resembles the taste of Amaretto. Although more expensive than the American version, they are worth it.
Whether used on top of ice cream, in a dessert recipe, or a cocktail, the Luxardo cherry is a sophisticated and elegant accompaniment. Everything tastes better when topped with a cherry!
